al-Ṭibb al-jadīd al-kimiyāʼī. [between 164-? and 1696]

A treatise on Paracelsian medicine in four chapters (maqālah), followed by an Arabic translation, much shortened, of the Basilica chymica by Oswald Croll, in two chapters (maqālah), with the title: al-Kīmīyāʼ al-malakīyah (fol. 61b-102a). These translations and compilations were made by Ṣāliḥ ibn Naṣr Allāh ibn Sallūm, the doctor of Sulṭān Mehmet IV (1648-1687), and appear in some manuscripts as the second part of a treatise entitled "Ghāyat al-itqān fī tadbīr badan al-insān". See M. Ullmann. Die Medizin im Islam, p. 182-184 (where the sources of this compilation --D. Sennert, J. Wecker, O. Croll, etc.-- are listed), and E. Savage-Smith, "Drug therapy of eye diseases in seventeenth-century Islamic medicine: The influence of the 'New chemistry' of the Paracelsians," in Pharmacy in History, 29 (1987), 3-28.
